Philosophy of the Curriculum:​

Our Curriculum

Creative Curriculum writes the curriculum we use. It is used from September to June for all ages and groups. It is based on creating a community in the classroom, being an upbeat guide for the children's behavior, teaching intentionally and responsibly, and constantly evaluating the children's learning. We offer it in English and Spanish. Using the same curriculum across infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms ensures a smooth transition as children grow. Our highly qualified teachers create an engaging, supportive environment with thoughtfully designed learning centers, including dramatic play, science, writing, blocks, and art. These centers are planned using observation and assessment data to meet the needs and interests of each child. Each day includes a balance of structured and unstructured activities. For example, children might explore butterflies in a small group reading session and then express their learning by drawing butterflies in the art area. We aim to inspire curiosity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning. Our Lead teachers are trained in the creative curriculum and use best-practice tools to ensure all children progress appropriately.

• Emotional and Social Development: We help children establish their individuality, develop a sense of self-image, and develop positive self-reliance. We also facilitate group activities, so children learn to work and play successfully with others.

• Intellectual Development: We strive to help children discover problem-solving skills, explore the natural world, and understand how things work through cause-and-effect relationships. 

• Health and Physical Well-being: Children learn the importance of self-help skills and other people's needs to grow. We strengthen this through structured play, free play, and healthy, balanced meals.

• Dual Language Development: Our language and reading activities are designed to help children understand and speak English and Spanish. We practice language through social and educational conversations, vocabulary, and the sounds of letters and names.

• Sensory Exploration: Students participate in activities that allow them to explore different materials and enhance their senses through music, dance games, and sensory bin exploration. They learn about various materials that smell, feel, and taste very differently!

• Art, Music, Dance, and Creative Expression: We encourage and provide opportunities for our students to explore creative expressions such as art, music, dance, and drama. Creative arts engage children’s minds, bodies, and senses and allow them to explore their imagination, sense of movement, and rhythm. Teachers plan activities to introduce children to different kinds of art, media, music, culture, and dance to encourage the students’ development of creativity and imagination. Many opportunities are presented for exploration by playing with water, dirt, kinetic sand, seasonal nature items, and various food items on the sensory table.
